Bronnfar Gradam Shean-Nós Cois Life ar Josie Sheáin Jeaic Mac Donncha, ag ócáid thaitneamhach i gClub na Múinteoirí ar an Satharn, 1 Aibreán 2017.
Bronntar Gradam Shean-Nós Cois Life gach bliain ar dhuine éigin a meastar go bhfuil saibhriú faoi leith déanta aige nó aici ar an amhránaíocht dhúchasach thar na blianta.
Is as ceantar Charna i gConamara do Josie Sheáin Jeaic Mac Donncha. Tá aithne fhorleathan air mar amhránaí a bhfuil stór saibhir amhrán aige agus stíl amhránaíochta a bhfuil an dúchas le braith go láidir inti. Is óna athair Seán Jeaic a fuair sé a chuid amhrán i dtosach.
Is mar chomhartha ómóis agus measa dá chuid oibre ar son traidisiún a cheantair dhúchais féin agus an chaoi ar chuir sé an traidisiún sin i láthair do phobal níos leithne ar fud na tíre agus thar lear a bhronnfar Gradam Shean-Nós Cois Life air le linn na féile i mbliana.
Josie Sheáin Jeaic Mac Donncha is from Carna in Conamara. He is widely known and respected as a singer with a very valuable and rich store of songs and a singing style that embodies all one would expect from a traditional singer in the Irish language. He first got his songs from his father Seán Jeaic and he has been bringing them to listeners within his own local area and far beyond for many years.
It is as mark of respect and gratitude for his steadfastness in preserving and presenting his family tradition and that of his local area to a wider audience throughout the country and abroad that Gradam Shean-Nós Cois Life is being presented to him during this year’s festival.
