Micheál Ó Cuaig is from Cill Chiaráin in Conamara. He is widely known and respected mainly for his untiring work with Féile Chomórtha Joe Éinniú (Joe Heaney Festival of Traditional Singing). He has researched the songs of his own locality and has been passing them on to the younger generations of singers in his area for many years. He is recognised and respected as a fine traditional singer who has a store of local and unusual songs.
